Need help on choosing vehicle?

Im getting my first vehicle and its hard for me to choose one. I live on like 5 miles of poorly maintained dirt roads, and the winters are bad where sometimes a dodge durango cant even get up a hill we have to go up. The roads are also very bumpy so i cant have a low sitting car. Id prefer a truck becuase i like trucks better but i want a car because most are better on gas. Can someone please tell me some types of trucks that are cheap and arent gas guzzlers or some cars that can take some rough terrain. Keep in mind i need something with 4-wheel drive also...thanks.
