Steps on how to seal a basement wall crack?

Try to make the back side of the crack wider than the exposed side to hold better. Make a ball of hydraulic cement and dampen the crack. Push the cement into the crack to fill within a 1/2" of the surface. Let it cure. Use more cement to flush out the surface. Then you can paint or whatever you want to do.
