What did you feel like when you first used a sunbed?

I just had my first session there in a vertical sunbed and when I went into the cubicle I felt like I was in some sort of experiment, like one the germans would do in WWII :P The time ped incredibly quickly and within the space of 1-2 minutes my skin went blotchy red all over my face but the rest of me was okay :S I have aftersun now in case the 6 minutes I was in was too much for me. It just feels so unnatural... how can I be sunburnt within 6 minutes of use? Would it not be better for our health if the machines tanned us over a longer period of time, because that is what our bodies are used to?
