Can regular mugs be personalized?

I am planning our wedding and our families are tight on money. I would like to get the groomsmen personalized mugs or pilsner gles. So I was wondering I could buy a pack for the gles from the store and have them personalized somewhere cheap or have someone do it. I would like to do it this way because the gles are not cheap anywhere I have looked! Pleas let me know what you think or you have a place where I could them for a good price! thanks.
